Growing tips
- To grow stronger, better producing plants remove flowers the first year to encourage energy directed to establishment.
- Renovate the beds immediately after last harvest each year: Mow leaves to 3”, narrow bed to width of 12-18”. Remove excess, weaker plants to achieve 3-5” of growing space around each plant. Incorporate fertilizer or compost.
- Avoid fertilizing at time of planting as this can trigger tender top growth prone to cold injury.
