Growing tips
- Plant in a site with good air circulation; avoid planting near large trees or buildings
- Mulch a few feet out from the trunk but not right up to the trunk.
- Thinning fruit is not necessary for cherries
- Lightly dress with compost, manure, or low nitrogen fertilizer in the spring.
- Prune trees in late winter to encourage growth of new fruiting wood. Do not prune in the autumn.
- Pick fruits only when fully ripe and harvest within a week's time. Eat or cook immediately.
- Pick the cherry by the stem so as to not tear the fruit, but take care to leave the spur so that it will produce fruit next year.
